History:

Arvada was first known as Ralston Point during the gold rush.  Later, to avoid confusion, it was changed to Arvada, named after Hiram Arvada Haskin who was brother-in-law to a settler at the time. The first discovery of gold in this area was in 1850 when Lewis Ralston was exploring the area, and found ¼ ounce of gold. Arvada later grew really fast due to its neighboring city, Denver, in the 20th century.
